Each spring since 2020, Ventures has deployed mini-grants to small businesses for support with start-up, growth, and recovery. The Spring Mini-Grant program started in 2020 as an emergency response to the COVID–19 pandemic. The initial Mini-Grant fund was created with generous support from individual donors. In 2021, thanks to a grant from Wells Fargo and its Open for Business fund, we continued the Mini-Grant program. Due to its success in previous years and feedback from entrepreneurs about the meaningful impact of the Mini-Grant program, we are able to continue providing support for small businesses through funding that does not need to be paid back.
This year, Ventures has $100,000 to award in Mini-Grants and applications are open through Monday April 18th at 5:00 pm. Each grant is for $500 and 200 grants will be awarded. To be eligible for this program, you must have graduated from Ventures’ (formerly Washington C.A.S.H.) 8–week Business Basics Course and have an address (business or personal) in Washington State. Start-up businesses and those without current business licenses are eligible to apply! There are no restrictions on use of funds and Ventures does not ask awardees to submit receipts.
Ventures will prioritize eligible applicants who have not received previous mini-grant funding. We will then use a lottery system to award any remaining funds. Grant awards will be announced on April 25th.
If you are a graduate of the Ventures 8–week Business Basics Course and have and address in Washington state, apply here for the Spring 2022 Mini-Grant program.
