While our Business Basics Course is the launch pad to all Ventures, it is clients like Cristina Almeda, owner of Largo Tents LLC, who truly understand the multi-level support system we provide to small business owners. Recently, we were able to interview Cristina about her experience with us and are honored to share a little of her story below.
- What is your business name and how long have you been in business?
We are Largo Tents LLC and we have been in business for 3 years.
- How did you find Ventures and why did you decide to take our Business Basics Course?
I was referred to Ventures by a friend. I took the course to gain a solid foundation for my previous drink catering business, which transformed my initial uncertainty into confidence. I learned essential skills like managing taxes, obtaining licenses, pricing products, and understanding my target market. This experience not only equipped me with practical knowledge but also empowered my team to turn our new idea into a thriving venture, now Largo Tents LLC.
- What was the number one thing you learned from the course?
I have learned to unlock the true value of our services. I truly understand the effort and creativity that pour into every tent, awning, or enclosure, and recognize the value of my passion.
- What other programs have you gotten a chance to do at Ventures and what was that like for you?
I participated in InnoVentures, which was my first-ever pitch experience, and it was truly eye opening! I had sleepless nights just thinking about presenting to a crowd, but the reward was beyond incredible. I still catch myself smiling when I remember that I won the top prize for my business! Learning how to pitch was transformative, and I am so grateful for the opportunity and the amazing instructors who supported us. Thanks to the prize, we were able to buy a new van, making this experience not only life-changing but also a significant boost for my business!
- What are some of the next goals you have for your business now?
Our next goals for the business include securing more contracts, obtaining a loan to hire and retain employees, and expanding our marketing efforts. We believe in our potential as a valuable business that meets essential needs, whether they are tents, enclosures, or awnings. We can already see Largo Tents LLC growing into a successful company!

I am incredibly grateful to Ventures and staff/friends for their invaluable support and guidance, which has opened new opportunities for my growth. We are very excited that the new van is wrapped with our logo, helping us to continue networking to secure more contracts and grow our family-owned business!
