Renée joined the Ventures Board in 2018.
Renée is passionate about economic empowerment and has experienced first-hand the inspiration derived from engaging directly in Ventures mission as a volunteer business coach for our amazing entrepreneurs.
Renée has over 20 years of experience in sales and business development. She has run a global channel business, led international market expansion efforts and launched several international start-ups before transitioning to the social sector. Renée has a degree in English and political science with an International Studies minor from Boston College. She discovered her love of teaching, while in graduate school at the University of Washington in Art History.
In her current role, Vice President of Consulting for FareStart, Renée leads a national technical assistance and training practice that has advanced economic inclusion and mobility in 47 states. She is also a Senior Associate at the Center for Nonprofit Leaders and graduate of Leadership Tomorrow, a civic engagement program focused on advancing racial equity in the Pacific Northwest. Through her work in the nonprofit sector, she has learned that one of the most effective ways to remove barriers to employment is through entrepreneurship.
Born in Tacoma, Washington. Renée has lived, studied and worked internationally and is energized by the opportunity to learn and explore new things, places, and languages. She is an entrepreneur, Baker & Spring, running a venue known as The Captain’s Cottage. She is also currently working on improving her Spanish and finds the creativity of Ventures entrepreneurs endlessly inspiring.
