Ten years ago, I realized my calling was to be a Wedding and Events Planner. I have always loved weddings and nothing excites me more than an event that is a smashing success. The only wedding and event planning experience I had was just for fun for family and friends. When my friends and family finally convinced me I had something special to give to the industry, I thought, “But, now what?”
It was so exciting! I finally knew exactly what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. But, I felt like I was drowning in questions: Where do I start? How do I go about it? I had never run a company before – I had no idea know what it entailed. All I wanted was to get started, but I had so many questions that I was scared to move forward. I knew I could be a success. I knew I had what it takes to be an amazing wedding and event planner but I didn’t have any of the resources to get started.
It was a slow process at the beginning, and though I began to despise my 9-5 job I stayed committed to fund my dream. Unfailingly, my community of family and friends supported, coached, and guided me. They reminded me that I do in fact have the tools, resources, and the courage move forward.
So I did it. I am proud to say that after years of learning and planning, I launched in 2013. Through my friends and family, I continue to gain the traction and confidence I need to grow my business. That is why the moment I launched Prelude-a-Bliss my mission was to give to others, as my family and friends gave to me. Giving to others is the foundation and the heart and soul of my company: to plan and implement an event filled with joy, a moment of bliss. Since inception, my team has sought a non-profit organization that aligns with our mission: giving to others by creating a custom experience that celebrates an individual’s style and personality, and supports others as they gain the courage to start a small business.
Ventures was exactly what I was looking for. Ventures’ clients are who I was 10 years ago. Starting a small business with little to no experience is no easy undertaking. It’s even harder when you know you have something special to share and don’t know where to start. That’s why we are partnering with Ventures – to demonstrate our commitment to helping low-income individuals get the start they need to become self-sufficient small business owners.
Prelude-a-Bliss is excited to lend our event planning talent to Ventures’ upcoming program and fundraising events. Find us at Graduation on August 7th, 5:30 p.m. at 2100 24th Ave S. We will be running event logistics and implementation so clients can enjoy their celebration!
