Bookkeeper & Office Manager
Maria joined Ventures in May 2017.
Maria maintains and organizes office operations and procedures. These include payroll, correspondence, outlining filing systems, reviewing and approving supply requisitions, adherence to procedures. Along with these, other of her responsibilities are bookkeeping and front desk services.
As a person that was always keen to volunteer for nonprofit organizations, Maria took an interest in this and decided to steer her professional career towards it. She also has experience with small business ownership through her dad, since he owned a small gas company. Through both of these experiences, Maria has gained an appreciation for how small business ownership can transform not only one person’s work life but a whole community by bringing hands-on training and support.
Originally from El Salvador, Maria’s background gives her a front seat view on how important education on small business startups can be. Having graduated from York University in El Salvador in business administration, Maria transferred to Seattle to coordinate diverse projects within the world of IT and account management. She finally found her way to Ventures by combining two of her interest – nonprofit work and office management.
Maria’s dream business is to start a nonprofit organization focused on helping immigrants get past the cultural shock of moving from their home country.
