Today Hawa is closer to achieving her American Dream because of the support of generous donors. This December, we shared Hawa’s story with you through our holiday fundraising campaign. We received close to $5,000 in donations to invest in the dreams of hardworking entrepreneurs.
This year, we will use these funds to empower over 800 entrepreneurs like Hawa with business training, access to capital, and specialized support so that they can achieve their dreams of business ownership. These donations will make an impact by breaking the cycle of poverty for local families.
After recently completing a survey of over 300 program graduates, we learned that 63% of these clients, who were in poverty when they came to Ventures, had moved out of poverty in two years or less. Not only are these individuals more financially stable, they are setting a positive example for their families and communities by making their American Dreams come true.
Hawa was among the generous supporters who made a donation to our holiday fundraising campaign. We are proud to work with entrepreneurs like her who are using their businesses to give back. Hawa joins a community of local and national supporters who believe that everyone deserves a chance to improve their lives. The donations received this past holiday season will help buy workbooks, pay for teachers, subsidize loan applications, and grow our programing to meet client needs. Thank you for making their dreams come true with your contributions to Ventures in 2016.
In 2017, Ventures will turn our attention to serving new communities, generating new revenue streams, and measuring long-term impact on clients’ lives and livelihoods. We look forward to sharing the impact of your contributions with you throughout the year. Thank you to all who donated to Ventures in 2016 to empower individuals with limited resources and unlimited potential improve their lives through small business ownership.
