Amy Hollander

Training Manager

Amy joined the Ventures team in 2015.

Amy manages the core entrepreneurial training programs by leading entrepreneur outreach efforts, overseeing program planning and delivery, and connecting Ventures entrepreneurs with Specialized Services. She is also the instructor of the 8-week Business Basics Course in Spanish, as well as other business courses in English and Spanish.

As a small business owner, Amy understands the challenges of building, growing, and maintaining a business. She also has experience with small business ownership through her husband’s family, who run several independent artisan goods businesses. Through this experience, Amy has gained an appreciation of how small business ownership can transform one’s prospects while building useful life skills. Amy joined Ventures because she believes empowering individuals to build businesses is an important and successful model to help people move out of poverty.

Originally from the Seattle area, Amy’s background is diverse in non-profit program coordination, development, and education. Amy graduated from Scripps College in 2013 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Latin American Studies and Gender & Women’s Studies. After graduation, she worked as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Vitória, Brazil for just under a year. Before joining Ventures, she worked remotely as an online English teacher from Costa Rica. Amy currently co-owns an online English teaching school, Linguas Francas.

Amy’s dream business is to start a travel agency.
