Ventures is in a great position to expand its impact on low-income communities in the Puget Sound region and across the state in 2018. We have an engaged staff and board, effective programs, lean systems, and we are in a stronger financial position than ever before. In order to take the next step and continue growing, we need to expand staff capacity at the leadership level for our internal operations. If we do this well, we will be able to meet the high demand for micro-enterprise development services in our region.
In order to achieve our vision of a region in which all individuals can achieve their dreams of small business ownership, Ventures is expanding the Associate Director position into two leadership roles. We have created a re-envisioned Associate Director position focusing on high-level strategy and financials, and a new Director of Development role to lead all organizational fundraising efforts. This pivot will equip Ventures to continue growing and evolving to respond to the needs of our community.
Our existing Associate Director, Brittany Kirk, will be moving into a new role at The Ostara Group as a Senior Consultant and will serve as a part-time consultant for Ventures to help with the transition. Brittany has been an exceptional member of our team in her seven years of service to Ventures, and we will miss her dearly – but with this new structure, we are excited and energized for the year ahead.
In the meantime, we have appointed Laura Fletcher as our Interim Associate Director and Jacquee Kurdas as our Interim Director of Development. In turn, Jen Hughes will be stepping into an expanded role as Director of Programs, overseeing all aspects of Ventures’ training, coaching, incubation, and financial services. Laura, Jacquee, and Jen have all shown tremendous dedication to Ventures and our clients, and we are proud of their work and excited to have them in their new roles.
Please join us in wishing Brittany well, and welcoming Jacquee, Jen, and Laura into their new leadership positions. We are looking forward to all that 2018 holds!
